Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) won bid for
Summer Deaflympics 2009 in sharp competition with Greece
- Feb 2003
With slight difference in votes the Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) won the race for hosting 2009 Summer Deaflympics over Greece. Greece probably made a more professional presentation with performance of different hearing sports ministers, perfect pictures of Athens and different venues based on the 2004 Athens Olympics and more but Chinese Taipei put more of heart in their performance and thus won it all.

Salt Lake City in USA to host Winter Deaflympics 2007 - Feb 2003
Being the only candidate the USA will arrange Winter Deaflympics 2007 in nearby situated Park City. They made a very good presentation and the choice was easy for the CISS Congress.

DIBF is now officially recognised! - Feb 2003
CISS
– (Comité International de Sports de Sourds / International Deaf Sports Committee) held their 38th Congress in Sundsvall, Sweden with 70+ countries delegates. The delegates have congenially approved to officially recognise Deaf International Basketball Federation as the governing body of deaf basketball around the world and are now affiliated member of CISS. DIBF will now try to be affiliated to the FIBA as soon as possible. Hopefully other sports will be able to establish International Deaf Sports Federations the same way as the DIBF.
